The food ordered to the room was nicely presented, however the taste was not as impressive.
I have been to a handful of 5-star hotels which offer some type of complimentary refreshment to guests, allowing them to sit in the lobby and sign for their room information while they are seated-as their travel documents are re-presented to them. This was not apparent. However, the welcome received with free valet parking is a plus for the Reception Area.
While attending breakfast in the restaurant, there was a morning when I asked for a cola, I was rudely presented with, "That is not included in your price! You will have to pay for that separately." If coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and juice are all included, why isn't soda? It is a non-alcoholic beverage and would not cost the hotel too much if it is offered. Also, if I had a problem paying for services, I would never stay at a 5-star hotel.
I have had friends stay at this property as guests and residents and they have informed me that the pool and gym facilities are stellar, so based on their opinions, they do provide those services.
I could not rate the actual professionalism and privacy of the spa as they were always fully booked. I was there for six days and they never had an opening. Either they are short-staffed or they are very popular. However, in the Mall adjoining, there is also a nice facility for massage for women on the top floor close to the food court in the old section of the Mall.
I did not notice a retail shop inside the property, however as the Mall is Adjoining any and all shopping items are available in the Mall.
Overall, if I am ever in Abu Dhabi again, staying at the Grand Millennium-Al Wahda was enjoyable and convenient to area attractions, and I would not mind booking there again.
Happy Travels!
